Q:What is Jeopardy!

In honor of #JeoparDay!, as in the anniversary of the long running game show, Jeopardy!, Dear Readers and Viewers, I’ve decided to honor this day by sharing my previous videos that I made about Jeopardy! I hope you all enjoy these tributes!!! (The first video, Dear Readers, was made in the past, but the feelings in the video still rings true.)

Stay safe, stay strong and, as always……

Shine On!!! (And Don’t forget to phrase the answer in the form of a question)

Poetry Packed Out: Carrying Our Crosses Well

Dear Readers, I’m not sure if I’ve shared this poem before in another post, but I feel as if this Lent has given me a need to share this poem.

I came into this Lent wanting to make an effort to get closer to God. I made a strategy and I wanted to make sure I stuck to it.

I’m sad to say that I didn’t.

I don’t know why I failed, it might have been life, needing to relax, but I know that there’s no reason why I didn’t stick to it.

With that being said, as I wrote in an earlier blog post (https://theautisticsuperblog.wordpress.com/2024/03/11/a-lenten-halftime-pep-talk/) I don’t plan to give it up so easily.

I guess that’s the reason I wanted you to share the following poem with you all, to share my hope with you all. So, please don’t give up on anyone or anything, you never know how things will play out.

Until next post, Dear Readers, please stay safe, stay strong and as always….

Shine On!!!

🙂

Well, now, Dear Readers, I can share some good news. First, though, I need to set the backstory for why I’m plugging this event on The Autistic SuperBlog.

Several months ago, I submitted a poem for a long standing poetic institution in the Hudson Valley as well as the world: The Calling All Poets Series (or CAPS, for short.) I know the host, Mike Jurkovic very well as he’s a fellow poet, he’s a great poet and wonderful friend.

So, imagine my happiness when I found out that my poem “Noise” was selected to be published in CAPS’ 25th Anniversary Anthology. I was so happy and elated about this that I told everyone I knew.

Except for you, Dear Readers and for that I’m sorry. I guess I wanted to wait for the perfect opportunity, which is coming on April 6th.

I know I’ll be there and wanted to spread the word on this wonderful event!!

Until next post, Dear Readers, stay safe, stay strong and, as always….

Shine On!!!

(Updated) A Tale of One Book

Greetings from the Spectrumite Side!!

Ever since I last posted, there has been a lot happening in my life, my first book, Through Autistic Eyes, has been published via an online book publishing company (Blurb.com) thanks to a great friend of mine. The book has made me feel so many words: excited, nervous, concerned, proud, worried, but there was one word that can sum up my feelings more than anything…

Vindicated!

The context of this story needs to be told in order to appreciate my feelings. Through Autistic Eyes has been a project that seemed to be instantaneous, but in reality took me and my friend eight years (or more) to complete.

It all started in my first featured reading in the year 2000 in Woodstock’s Colony Cafe. The host asked me if I had books to sell, to which I sheepishly said that I didn’t, that was when my friend offered to help me make that dream a reality. We had a set plan when we first started in a small cafe in Upstate New York, but there were curveballs that set us both back a long time before the book became a reality, I won’t dwell on them because honestly there were so many setbacks for both of us, suffice it to say that it took patience, courage and a little growing up on my part to make the dream a reality. Now, I’m proud to be a published poet and it feels so incredible to say that and know that dreams can come true!!

If you want to order the book, I’ve included the link to the book below, the proceeds of which go to the Global and Regional Asperger’s Syndrome Partnership (of which I’m also a Board Member.) I only hope that my story and success can help us all reach our individual potential and help us all…

Shine On!!

(Repost) 23 Years Ago, A Day Which will Live in Infamy

March 26, 2001, for Professional wrestling fans, it was considered a day of infamy, but one that we all knew was a formality, the day that the World Wrestling Federation (now known as World Wrestling Entertainment) bough chief rival promotion, World Championship Wrestling.

It was a monumental thing to think about during the Monday Night Wars, thinking that one promotion had to be victorious in the titanic struggle. Well, after six long years, the WWE finally bought WCW and it was a great day to be a wrestling fan.

Or so one could only hope.

Whereas they was competition back then, with the WWE going from family friendly to the iconic Attitude Era, with edgier content and making stars like Stone Cold Steve Austin, Triple H, The Rock and Mankind (or Mick Foley if you prefer.) WCW, in contrast, only made one star while building on the success of others, like Hulk Hogan, Kevin Nash, Scott Hall, Ric Flair and others.

ECW, a popular hardcore wrestling promotion that went into bankruptcy around the same time, had its homegrown stars, such as Tommy Dreamer, Mikey Whipwreck, the Sandman, Raven and Rob Van Dam. Whereas WCW’s booking and organization were micromanaged (creative control, ECW was much more liberal in their management

Since 2001, the game had changed in the wrestling world, for better or worse. While the Chris Benoit tragedy has had a ripple effect on it, there are times like recent wrestling events, especially the fact that women will main event Wrestlemania 35, (the first such an occurrence this will happen) makes the changes that have been made, the evolution the business has taken seem all the more worth it in the long term.

In closing, it’s wise to take notice that change can be a good thing or bad, depending on your own story, you can’t change the past, yet you can use the lessons to help you on your own journey, so you can grow and find a way, whatever that way is, to…

Shine On!!!

Jeopardy! at 9,000!!

Jeopardy! celebrates its 9,000th show by paying homage to person who has been on every episode (msn.com)

Dear Readers, last Friday was a red letter day in game show history for everyone’s favorite quiz show: Jeopardy!

I’ve posted on Jeopardy! on The Autistic SuperBlog many times before, as the following links show: This! Is! Amazing! – The Autistic SuperBlog (wordpress.com, Jeopardy – The Autistic SuperBlog (wordpress.com), Q: This fan is making a “Buzz” for his game show cred, most recently on Jeopardy! – The Autistic SuperBlog (wordpress.com).

To say that I was happy to see last Friday’s episode would be an understatement, as someone whom saw the first episode of the current version, I was so happy to see the evolution from where it was then to where it is now.

Where it all began.
The Million Dollar Masters in 2002, where Brad Rutter won.
#ADA30: We’ve Come A Long Way, But We’re Not there….yet… – The Autistic SuperBlog (wordpress.com) Another personal favorite contestant of Jeopardy!: Eddie Timanus
Of course, I’d be nuts if I didn’t post this memory, I saw it like everyone else did, and a video doesn’t do this

justice. It was an unreal moment, simply put.

These are only a few examples of the memories I have when it comes to watching Jeopardy! I know that this is a very heavy media post, but I wanted to make the point of how long (as well as relevant) Jeopardy! is in game shows.

Until next post, Dear Readers, stay safe, stay strong and as always…..

Shine On (but remember to shine on in the form of a question!)

(Repost) A PSA for Sensory Overload

(Fair warning, Dear Readers, this isn’t my video, but I feel as if this should be a great introduction into this Public Service Announcement.)

For fellow Spectrumites like myself, Dear Readers, I felt the need to talk about this, especially in these stressful and chaotic times of the Coronavirus pandemic. If for no other reason, it’ll help me as much as it’ll help others.

The world, which was chaotic to begin with, can feel even moreso. The hecticness can simply feel overwhelming and the new rules, the new restrictions and social rules can feel the perfect storm, with everything changing all at once.

Wearing two masks at once can be a daunting challenge at times, yes, two masks. The one that we wear on us in public and the one that masks whom we are without them. Dealing with them both is a delicate balancing act and can seem impossible at times.

Even as I try to be positive and optimistic by nature, Dear Readers, I have to admit that sensory overload can get the best of me as well, it is, after all, a fact of life for fellow Spectrumites, sensory overload takes a lot of strength to deal with, but it also requires time and patience for us to recharge from.

This world can be a bit of a challenge at times, so we don’t ask for much, only for support, kindness and compassion. So, this is just a plea for those whom are struggling with this perfect storm to be kind to each other, be compassionate to each other and help us all…

Shine On!!!
